Fort Worth’s Oldest and First Funeral Home - Since 1879

Forest David Burke Sr.

FORT WORTH–Forest David Burke Sr., known as Dave by all who knew and loved him, peacefully passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 in Fort Worth at the age of 87.

Celebration of life: 4 p.m. Saturday, October 7th at Brown Owens & Brumley’s Joe B. Brown Memorial Chapel.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Handley Meadowbrook Lions Club, 6013 Craig St., Fort Worth, TX. 76112 for use at the Kerrville Children’s Camp.

Dave grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, served in the US Air Force in Puerto Rico and South Dakota and spent the rest of his 58 years of his life in Fort Worth. Dave retired from LTV and Computer Technology as an International Supervisor and spent the rest of his life in a successful healthcare business.  Dave loved international traveling more than anything and was an amazing father.  He fondly recalled memories of trips that included adventures in the motorhome and often involved camping, fishing, boating and skiing.  Dave loves socializing; whether it was one person or a crowd of 100, and had the ability to make all of them feel wanted and included.  He was a member of the Handley Meadowbrook Lions Club where he served in all capacities; including President and Board Member.  Dave was presented with the Lions Club highest honor, the Melvin Jones Fellow Award.

Survivors: He is survived by his best friend and soulmate Susie, son David and his wife Jeana, their children Andrew, Sydney, and Meredith, daughter Kaye and her son Theron, daughter Ann and her children Josh and Emma, daughter Suzanne and her husband Joe, her children D.J. and Chase, great grandson Blaine, daughter Linda and her husband Jerry, their daughter Channing, son Jimmy and his wife Micah, his children Kevin and Isabelle, and scores of friends and family who clearly loved him and his quick wit.

We will remember Dave for his kindness, humor and generosity. It was a wonderful day when we found out we were in their NSP downline. They made us feel like family. We enjoyed every precious moment visiting with he and Susie at their home, their monthly meetings and NSP Events. We love and will honor his memory and are comforted to know that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

If you consider the definition of “Gentle-man”, it must be changed to include Forest. When ever he made friends they quickly became “best friend”. We ALL became better just meeting Dave. Carry on my friend, you made a difference here, you will make a difference in Heaven.
