FORT WORTH–Peter Gigstad Warren died unexpectedly at his home in Fort Worth on August 2, 2017 at the age of 58.
Memorial service: 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8 at Brown Owens & Brumley’s Joe B. Brown Memorial Chapel.

Peter was born September 29, 1958 in Mankato, Minnesota to Val Gene and Lynette Gigstad. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was the oldest of three boys. As an infant and toddler, he was cared for by his great aunt and uncle, herb and Erma Kremin of Mankato, while his parents worked and attended college. Peter had a special lifelong bond with them. As an adult, Peter would travel to Mankato to visit Herb and Erma. He attended grade school and junior high school in the Minneapolis, MN metro area. He played trombone in the school band and learned alpine skiing. Soon the whole family became skiers and traveled to Colorado to ski and visit family. In 1973, the Gigstad family moved to Houghton, Michigan. Peter also enjoyed photography in high school and continued that hobby into his adult years.
In 1977, Peter graduated from Houghton High School. He attended Michigan Tech University in Houghton, graduating with high honors from MTU with a Computer Science degree. During college, he sang in the MTU choir and played in the band. More recently, he traveled with the MTU choir to perform concerts in Russia and China. He started his career with IBM in Charlotte, North Carolina. He then worked for Duke University in the computer department. Peter made his move to Texas for a job with Compaq Computers. Shortly after that, Peter made a career transition to become a financial advisor for Merrill Lynch. At that time, he also obtained his MBA from Dallas University. In July 2007, Peter began working for Wells Fargo. He had nearly a 30 year career in the financial industry.
Peter will be greatly missed by his family, friends and co-workers.
Peter is preceded in death by grandparents, Arthur Grane, Russ and Alida Bisbee and Harold and Margaret Gigstad; as well as many aunts and uncles.
Survivors: Peter is survived by his mother, Lynette Gigstad; father, Gene (Jeanie) Gigstad; brothers, Marc (Lou Anne) Gigstad, and Jeff (Brenda) Gigstad; many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins; and many, many friends.
