Bobbie Jo Price

FORT WORTH — Bobbie Jo Price passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at the age of 83.
Celebration of life: 11 a.m. Monday in Brown Owens & Brumley Funeral Directors’ Chapel. Interment: Bobbie will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Billy Jo Price, in Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Gordon Thomas Hendon

FORT WORTH — Gordon Thomas Hendon, 72, passed away peacefully Friday, May 24, 2013, at a local nursing home.
Burial: Gordon will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery near Springville, Ala., at a later date.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to The Salvation Army or The Shriner Hospital in Houston, 6977 Main St., Houston, Texas 77030.
Gordon was born to Thomas Gordon and Annie Kathryn Hendon in Huntsville, Ala., on Jan. 8, 1941. He proudly served three years in the U.S. Army and five years in the U.S. Air Force. Gordon met “Peggy,” the love of his life, and they married April 15, 1967, in St. Petersburg, Fla. He graduated from the University of South Florida with a bachelor of arts in accounting.
Gordon owned and operated his own accounting firm in Naples, Fla. He and his wife moved to Juneau, Alaska, in 1975 where he held several auditing positions for the state of Alaska and they later moved to Fort Worth in 2001.
Gordon had many accomplishments consisting of being a member of American Institute of CPA as well as Florida Institute of CPA. While living in Juneau, he was a member of Juneau Yacht Club and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. In Fort Worth, he was a member of Elks Lodge 124, American Legion Post 297, and The Parker County Sportsman Club. Gordon was also a 33rd-degree Mason and a Shriner.
Survivors: Wife of 46 years, Margaret Kathleen “Peggy” Hendon; sister, Ida Lucille Colvin; sister, Annie Elizabeth Taylor; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends.

Frank H. Habbel

FORT WORTH — Frank H. Habbel, a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at the age of 71.
Memorial Mass: 1 p.m. Friday, May 31, at St. Andrew Catholic Church.
Frank was born Dec. 12, 1941, in Detroit, Mich., to the late John A. and Catherine Habbel.
Frank worked over 40 years as an aeronautical engineer for Lockheed Martin.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Berniece Foley.
Survivors: Loving wife of 31 years, Carol Ann Habbel; daughter, Rachael Hullinger and husband, Peter; son, Michael F. Habbel; granddaughters, Alexandra and Addison; brother, John Habbel; and many other extended family members.

Maria Gloria Lopez

FORT WORTH — Maria Gloria Lopez, 62, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013.
Celebration of life: 9 a.m. Thursday at Brown Owens & Brumley Funeral Directors’ Joe B. Brown Memorial Chapel. Interment: Gloria will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Gloria was born Aug. 8, 1950, to the late Florentino and Cristina Guia in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico. She was loving and dedicated to her family. We will miss your smile and we love you a thousand, thousand times.

Carlos Garza Sr.

FORT WORTH — Carlos Garza Sr., 69, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 20, 2013.
Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Friday at St. Rita Catholic Church. Visitation: 5 p.m. Thursday at Brown, Owens & Brumley Funeral Home, with rosary following at 6 p.m.
Memorials: Should friends desire, memorials in lieu of flowers may be sent to the American Heart Association.
Carlos was born May 31, 1943, to Henry Garza Sr. and Maria Louisa Saenz Garza in San Antonio. He was a graduate of Burbank High School in San Antonio.
At the age of 15, he received his journeyman plumber’s license and received his master plumber’s license in 1968. He was recognized in the Texas Who’s Who of Professional Plumbers for his accomplishments. Carlos began Garza Plumbing in 1968, and after a long, successful career in commercial and industrial plumbing, he retired at the age of 65.
Carlos met Ernestina Sandoval at a dance in San Antonio. Ernestina took pity and danced with the handsome, young man who dared to wear Hush Puppies shoes to a dance. The two married in September 1968 and continued their dance together for the next 44 years. The couple had seven children, while living in Brady. The family moved to Arlington in 1990. In 2010, the Tarrant Council on Marriage recognized Carlos and Ernestina’s union on Hispanic Marriage Day.
During retirement, he enjoyed his vegetable garden and testing his luck at casinos in Oklahoma. He was known as “Mr. Friendly” to all his casino companions.
Carlos was preceded in death by Carlos Garza Jr.
Survivors: Beloved wife, Ernestina; Dolores Garza; Regina and Javier Puente; Ninfa and Steve Louden; Joe and Annie Garza; Anthony and DeAnna Garza; Ernesto and Erica Garza; 17 grandchildren; and countless friends.

Larry David Treadway

FORT WORTH — Larry David Treadway passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the age of 68.
Celebration of life: 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, at St. Rita Catholic Church. Committal service: 3 p.m. Tuesday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Larry was born July 18, 1944, in Laramie, Wyo., to the late James and Dorothy Treadway. Larry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked as a sheet metal worker through Local #68 and he loved his contracting position at Roof Tech, where he was employed for 19 years. He was a great husband and perfect father and he will always have their love.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Julie Harrison and Marguerite Worley Eaton.
Survivors: Loving wife of 42 years, Virginia Treadway; sons, Travis Treadway and Matthew David Treadway; daughter, Amy Treadway Davis; brother, James Treadway and wife, Barbara; sister, Barbara Treadway; granddaughter, Ashleigh Adams Davis; grandson, Jaxon Treadway; several extended family members and friends.

Linda S. Mosley

FORT WORTH — Linda S. Mosley, 69, passed away peacefully Friday, May 17, 2013, surrounded by her family.

Among the many things that Linda loved was the volunteer work she did at the Mission House. She was a certified nurse’s aide for most of her career. She has a huge family who will miss her dearly. She was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Freda Lehr; and great-grandson, Caleb Reeves.

Robert “Bob” Slakmon

FORT WORTH — Robert “Bob” Slakmon, loving husband, father, son, brother and friend, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013, at the age of 55.
Memorial service: 1 p.m. Saturday in Brown Owens & Brumley Funeral Directors’ chapel.
Bob was born March 20, 1958, to Roger and Genie Slakmon in San Francisco, Calif. He proudly served our country by joining the Marines. Bob enjoyed watching his favorite team, the San Francisco 49ers.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Roger Slakmon.
Survivors: Wife of 25 years, Judy Slakmon; mother, Genie Slakmon; daughter, Leann Slakmon; sister, Jody Slakmon; and many friends.

Felicitas Gonzales Rubio

FORT WORTH — Felicitas Gonzales Rubio passed away peacefully Friday, May 10, 2013, at the age of 85.

Felicitas was a devoted Catholic who loved God and was a devoted mother and grandmother to her children and grandchildren. She was kind and compassionate to everyone who was blessed enough to have known her. She will be deeply missed by everyone and will remain in our hearts forever.
Felicitas was preceded in death by a daughter, Eva Rubio.

Evelyn Dolores Self

ARLINGTON — Evelyn Dolores Self, 85, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013.
Celebration of life: 10 a.m. Friday, May 17, in Brown, Owens & Brumley Funeral Directors’ Joe B. Brown Memorial Chapel. Interment: Evelyn will be laid to rest in Central Cemetery in Weatherford. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Evelyn was born Jan. 14, 1928, in Caddo to the late William and Clarsia Fulks. She grew up in Fort Worth, where she attended Travis Avenue Baptist Church and was baptized Aug. 1, 1936.
In 1945 she graduated from Technical High School in Fort Worth where she was certified as a student of commercial art. She worked as a waitress for many years in the Fort Worth and Arlington area. Evelyn retired in 1994 from the Arlington Independent School District where she worked in food services.
Evelyn loved to dance and was active with The Lively Swingers, a senior dance group that performed across Texas. She also enjoyed playing bingo, cards and the many activities at the Senior Recreation Center.
“Nanny,” as she was lovingly known, will truly be missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gorden Self; son, Randall Brown; daughter, Jeannie and husband, Winston Wells; brother, Donald Fulks; sister, Frances Geer; baby sister, Dorothy Fulks; granddaughter, Katrina Brown; and grandson, Joshua Valenzuela.
Survivors: Son, Rodney Brown and wife, Glenda; daughter, Patricia Harden and husband, Greg; sister, Mildred Parker; grandchildren, Amanda, Carter, Sarah, Lyndsey, Aubrey and Michael; great-grandchildren, Jerret, Zoe, Christopher, Jacob, Noah, Mailey, Brenna, Landen, Blade, Michael and Marley; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
