Jerry Patrick Poindexter

ARLINGTON-Jerry Patrick Poindexter passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at the age of 79.
Celebration of life: 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at Brown Owens & Brumley’s Joe B. Brown Memorial Chapel.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Jerry’s honor to the American Kidney Fund.
Jerry was born January 2, 1940 to William Poindexter and Jaine Lucile Poindexter in Milburn, Oklahoma. He graduated from Odessa High School and was a member of the track, football, baseball, basketball teams and a member of the chess club. He proudly served his country by enlisting in the US Army Reserves; company L 397th Reg. where he earned a sharpshooter medal. His career was in real estate and the mortgage business. Jerry loved sports, golf, traveling and dancing with his sweetheart. His favorite sports teams were the Dallas Cowboys, TCU, Texas Tech and the Texas Rangers. One of his favorite memories was when he went skydiving in 1994 with family member Steve Van Buren. Jerry loved taking vacations and other trips with his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence and Bill.
Survivors: Loving wife of 41 years, Juanita Poindexter; son, Christopher Dell Johnston Sr.; daughter, Kelly Michelle Poindexter; grandson, Christopher Dell Johnston, Jr. and wife, Sasha and great grandson, Asher; step-son, Dwayne Forsythe; step-daughter, Mitzi Birdsong and husband, Shane and grandson, Hunter Birdsong; brother, Royce Cody; brother, Ted Press; numerous cousins, in-laws and other family members and friends.

    Jerry to me was always a kind and gentle soul. My brother Shane always spoke highly of him as well. I was blessed having known him in my life. May the good Lord wrap him in his loving arms welcoming him to heaven. He surely blessed so many hearts that knew him.
