FORT WORTH–Jose Ortega passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at the age of 102.
Celebration of life: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Andrews Catholic Church. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Rosary will start at 5 p.m.
Jose was born May 28, 1915 to the late Florencio and Carlota Ortega in Mexico. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather and will be deeply missed.
Jose is preceded in death by his wife, Margarita Ortega; daughter, Lucy Firestone; son, Jose Ortega Jr. and grandson, Henry Ortega Jr.
Survivors: Son, Henry Ortega and wife Sarah; son, Jesse Ortega; grandchildren, Patrick Andrade, Theresa Ortega and Kathy Toomer, Rosa Ortega Jones and husband, Deet Jones, Angela Ortega, Mark Ortega, Sheri Ortega Sosa and husband, Jimmy Sosa, Paul Torres and Phillip Torres and wife, Stephanie; 11 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.

I am sorry for your loss, but believe, and possibly you feel this too, Jose fell asleep peacefully because he was a loving, happy, vibrant man, father, grandfather, uncle, and no doubt, friend to many. I love my uncle Joe and send my condolences to his dear loved ones. (John 5:28, 29; Revelation 21:4,5)

  5. We will miss Jose who continually attended the 8:30 mass up until weeks before his passing. We will not forget his service as hospitality minister (usher) at the 8:30 mass for so many years.
