With heavy hearts and fond memories, we celebrate the life of Alita Zane Pope, who will forever remain in our hearts following her passing on December 20, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on February 14, 1929, in Cleburne, Texas, Alita brought warmth, love, and laughter to all who knew her throughout her remarkable journey.
Alita's life was an adventure, beginning in Cleburne and leading her to Southern California in 1967, where she embraced new experiences. After five vibrant years on the West Coast, she returned to Texas, eventually settling in Granbury in 1998. Her strong connection to Texas was evident in her love for her family, friends, and community.
In her professional life, Alita was esteemed in the food industry as a meat wrapper at Tom Thumb. Her passion and dedication earned her the title of Employee of the Year twice, a testament to her commitment to excellence and her cherished relationships with customers and coworkers.
Beyond her work, Alita was a talented seamstress, crafting beautiful clothes for herself and her daughter, Sharon Buller. An avid knitter and crocheter, she later found joy in creating porcelain dolls. Alita also enjoyed spirited games of Hand and Foot with her friends over the years, sharing laughter and camaraderie.
Alita's life was beautifully intertwined with her husband, Bobby, with whom she shared 51 wonderful years filled with adventure. Together, they traveled across Texas and beyond, creating lasting memories that celebrated their deep love. Even after Bobby's passing on October 15, 2020, Alita carried his spirit with her.
Alita leaves behind a legacy of creativity, kindness, and love, inspiring all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Alita was preceded in death by her parents;her husband, Bobby; her brother, James; Steve Pope and Cathy Savage.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Kendall Buller; her grandchild, Chad Hamill (Christa); her great-grandchildren, Cole Hamill (Miranda) and Cash Hamill; her sons by marriage, Guy Ray Pope (Karen) and Bobby Don Pope; as well as extended family and many friends.
