Bettie Carol Schlatter

July 9, 1946 — November 4, 2023

Bettie Carol Hutchison Schlatter, 77, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas surrounded by her family.
Bettie Schlatter was born on July 9, 1946 in Hillsboro, TX., to William Joseph Hutchison and Lola Belle Hutchison.
Bettie graduated from Trimble Tech High School in 1964 where she served on the ROTC.  Bettie started her career as a bookkeeper at Montgomery Wards and went on to work  in logistics and accounting for General Dynamics and Lockheed Martin 35 years until retirement.
Bettie loved music, especially southern gospel quartets of the 1960's and Elvis Presley, attending several of his shows in Fort Worth and Las Vegas.  She could rock a pink velour jumpsuit and beehive hairdo with the best of them! Her musical tastes moved on to Clint Black and she became a VIP member of his fan club for many years.  She loved travelling and made pilgrimages to Graceland in Memphis and The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.  Bettie was well known for her love of decorating for and celebrating all of the holidays, amassing closets full of wreaths and decorations, many of which she made by hand. No one in the family was surprised when she won first prize in the Christmas decorating contest her first year at The Vantage, her retirement residence. She was a good cook and it was a lucky day when she sent out a text saying she had made her vegetable soup and "come get some!" Bettie had many long term friends with whom she was diligent at keeping in touch.  Her FaceBook group always looked forward to her daily postings of colorful flowers and inspirational messages.  She was very generous with her love and support for her family, friends and neighbors. She will be missed by so many.
Bettie is survived by sisters Mildred Jones and Della Williams, nieces Thresa Warmbrod, Kim Cruz, Tamra Reynolds, Susan Harper and Melissa Hoskins, nephews Creig Anderson, Keith Hutchison, Brent Williams, Stan Eastland and John Williams and many great and great-grand nieces and nephews who all adored her.
Bettie is preceded in death by her father, William Joseph Hutchison, mother Lola Hutchison, brother Pete Hutchison and sisters Ruth Eastland and Stella Anderson
