Carol Blessing had a way of making life feel special to the people around her. She loved deeply, laughed often, and made even ordinary moments feel unforgettable. Whether she was teaching her children and grandchildren how to ride horses, making jewelry, crocheting thoughtful gifts, sewing, or planning trips to the beach, Carol poured her heart into the people she loved most.
Halloween was always especially meaningful because it was also Carol’s birthday. When her children were young, she spent countless hours making homemade costumes that were creative, memorable, and unlike anyone else’s. As the years went on, she proudly carried on that tradition with her great-grandchildren, making sure each costume was made with love, imagination, and care.
Her family will always smile when they think about Carol asking for back scratches that seemed to last forever. She could always convince the kids to keep going “just a little longer” until their arms practically fell off. Those simple moments became some of the sweetest memories her family now holds close to their hearts.
Carol also loved telling stories about her childhood and the adventures and “calamity” she and her cousins would get into growing up. She had a way of bringing those memories to life, filling rooms with laughter and making everyone feel like they were right there with her.
She attended Sacred Heart and Vineland High School in Vineland, New Jersey, and throughout her life held many different roles, including working at Charlton Methodist Hospital as a respiratory therapist. She also worked as a massage therapist, lab technician, and tanning bed technician. Carol had a servant’s heart and cared deeply for both people and animals. She was a supporter of the Humane Society and was a life member of the North American Fishing Club.
Most importantly, Carol’s faith was an important part of her life. She was a member of the Church of Christ and carried her faith with quiet strength, kindness, and compassion throughout the years.
Carol was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Purifoy, and her son, Kenneth Wright.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory, including her children: Ralph Darch (RJ) and wife Laura, Susan Hart, Lisa Valdez, Beatrice Cudd and husband Tom, Sarah Marsh and husband Darin, and Henry Melton.
She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Shawn Yarber, Joshua Hart, Jimmy Darch, Leela Duhon, Carol Darch, Ralph Darch Jr. “Stix,” Kohner Melton, Austin Valdez, Gabriella Valdez, Christian Cudd, Ashton Cudd, Morgan Cudd, James Cudd, Andrew Long, Billy Holden, James Marsh, Dallas Junior, Victoria Wright, and Dominique Wright, along with many great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her life.
Although her family’s hearts are heavy, they find comfort in the countless memories she leaves behind — every handmade Halloween costume, every shared laugh, every beach trip, every long story, and every moment spent together as a family.
She was deeply loved, will be greatly missed, and will forever remain a part of the hearts of those who knew her.
