Butch Turner was born on May 9th, 1946 in Decatur, Texas to the late Gellette Turner & Mable Ingle. He passed away peacefully on May 28, 2024.
While growing up in Azle as a teen, he helped his uncle maintain the local drive-in movie theatre. After High School, Butch attended the Air Force and served as a police officer until honorable discharge in 1966. After the service he settled in Azle, Texas and continued to work as a reserve police officer and respiratory therapist at Harris hospital and ambulance driver. After leaving the hospital, he opened Turner Ambulance in 1969 in the Azle area. Later moving in 1975 to Northeast Tarrant County with 4 ambulances. Turner finally settled in Haltom City in 1978 with a station in River Oaks until renaming the business in 1981 to Regional Paramedic Services. He was contracted with 13 cities in Tarrant County until April of 1986. In 1988, he moved his operation to Hamilton County providing ambulance service to the entire county while serving as a deputy sheriff until 1990. While moving back to Fort Worth wanting a change, he left the ambulance service to his son Lee Turner and began a career as a bar owner until August of 2019.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son Chris Turner.
Butch is survived by his son, Lee Turner and wife Melinda; grandsons, Brandon & Matthew; granddaughter, Sierra; great grandson, Grayson; & bonus daughters, Skye and Shelly Thomson.
