Donald was born Friday, August 22, 1930 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to the late William and Doris (Shaw) McGaughey. Even though Donald was born in Oklahoma, he actually was raised in Kansas City, Missouri. He proudly served his country by enlisting in the US Air Force. On January 22, 1955, Don was united in marriage to Ruth Calvert. Of this union in marriage, they had four children, Chris, Donna, Doris and Laurie. On May 20, 1975, he married Norma Hart and gained two more daughters, Mary and Denise. In 1982, he and Norma moved to Texas. They moved to their home in Pelican Bay and enjoyed their life together. Don’s hobbies included playing pool, horseshoes, dominoes, darts, chess and poker and of course Budweiser beer. He also enjoyed being on the water in his boat and riding his motorcycle and spending time with his dogs. Don was a jack of all trades. There was pretty much nothing he could not do. In his younger years, he was a supervisor for Gustin Bacon Manufacturing in Kansas City and later in life he installed automotive air conditioning and sound systems. Don was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed deeply.
Don is preceded in death by his parents; son, Christopher Dale; brother, Bill McGaughey; sister, Mona Turner; and sister, Anna Mae Webster.
