NORTH RICHLAND HILLS-Donald Lee Mabry passed away Friday, February 21, 2020 at the age of 78.
Celebration of life: 1 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Brown Owens & Brumley’s Joe B. Brown Memorial Chapel.

Don was born Monday, October 6, 1941 to the late John and Juanita Mabry in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He attended Van Buren, Arkansas public schools and then earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas.
His working life included domestic materials management (then called Traffic Management) for the Ralston Purina Company which took him to Spokane, Washington. He came to Texas to perform materials management for the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce followed by international materials management for Texas Instruments, Inc. in Dallas, Texas and Geophysical Services, Inc. in Houston, Texas. He served six years in the Air National Guard.
Don loved music, especially guitar which he played for enjoyment and was an ardent photographer. He was a gifted artist in wood. He founded Heirlooms, Inc. offering his handmade Shaker style boxes which were in demand by many and were featured in a national magazine. He was named among the Top 200 American Craftsmen in America by Early American Life magazine. Don also created beautiful furniture using native American hardwoods Cherry, Maple, and Walnut. Don loved to travel and especially enjoyed trips to New England. He cherished family and friends. Don will be remembered for his droll wit and love of his pet dogs.
During Don’s brief stay at Avalon Memory Care, Keller, Texas, accompanied by Allstar Hospice of Arlington, he received expert compassionate care. The family is deeply grateful.
Survivors: Wife of 55 years, Wanda Knox Mabry of North Richland Hills, Texas; daughter, Robyn Elizabeth Mabry; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Esther Yacono of Boston, Ma.; brother-in-law, William W. Knox, Jr. and wife, Marilyn; nephew, Jason Briggs of Tulsa, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Guy Thurston Knox and wife, Paula; niece, Oklahoma State Senator, Stephanie Bice and husband, Geoff; nephew, Chris and wife, Raquel; niece, Erica Knox DeLester and husband, Jeff, all of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; beloved friends, Frank and Judy Hall of Colleyville, Texas and daughter, Rebecca Hall Sullivan of Austin, Texas.
