Eva Mae Wood, affectionately known as Abby, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025, at the age of 71 in her hometown of Fort Worth, Texas, where she was born, raised and lived her entire life.
Born June 5, 1954 to Albert and Mabel Wood, Eva was a devoted daughter, sister and aunt. She shared an unbreakable bond with her late sister, Judy, who was her lifelong closest companion. Though she never had children of her own, she poured her heart into her nephews Kyle and Kane, serving as a second mother and a steady presence in their lives.
Eva's life was lovingly centered on her family. She will be remembered as the peacemaker- gentle, calming and grounded. Her quiet demeanor was complemented by a subtle, mischievous sense of humor. She was deeply pragmatic, always finding practical solutions and approaching life with determination and resilience.
She loved bowling and spent many happy hours in leagues with her family. A devoted fan of the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys, she also had a deep love for tennis- and her family likes to imagine that she made it to heaven just in time to watch the Wimbledon Finals side by side with Judy.
Eva had a soft spot for Elvis Presley, Alan Jackson, horse racing and the occasional trip to the casino. She enjoyed watching her shows, Yellowstone, X-Files and NCIS with her signature wry smile.
Eva is survived by her nephew Kyle Anderson, his wife Kit and their son Kirk; and by her nephew Kane Chapman. Her memory will be forever cherished by those who knew her quiet strength, loyal heart and gentle spirit.
A memorial servive honoring Eva's life will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 11:00 am at Brown, Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Fort Worth, Texas.
