FORT WORTH — Frances B. Strickland passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at the age of 97.
Graveside service: 9 a.m. Friday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Lane A. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Brown Owens & Brumley Funeral Directors.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Shriners Children’s Hospital in memory of Frances.
Frances was born Sept. 26, 1916, to the late Edward Hudson and Mary Elizabeth Bellah in Hunt County. Frances was a lifetime member of the Amarillo Chapter of the Eastern Star. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Amarillo. After moving to Fort Worth, she was a faithful attendee of Handley Baptist Church.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 71 years, James R. Strickland; siblings, Beulah Mae Patterson, J.C. Bellah, Joe Bellah and Luther Bellah; grandson, Todd Blasingame; and dearest friend, Nelwyn Blankenship.
Survivors: Daughter, Mary Forkner and husband, Roy; daughter, Robbie Thurston and husband, Wayne; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Bonnie Bellah; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she held so dearly to her heart.
