Guillermo (Willie) Ruiz Villarreal, 88, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 01, 2023 at The Legend Oaks Nursing Home in Fort Worth Texas. Willie was born on June 25, 1934 in Mercedes, Texas, to the late Victor Zepeda Villarreal and Josefina Ruiz Villarreal.
He graduated from Harlingen High School in 1951. Shortly thereafter, he enrolled in the United States Army, and served for over 20 years. He saw conflict in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He served his country proudly, remaining allegiant beyond his retirement, as a Sergeant 1st Class.
Willie had an exceptional bond with his sons, Patricio Villarreal and Domingo Villarreal. His dedication to both of his sons will not be forgotten.
While in the military, Willie acquired the skills of a cook and pastry chef, which he excelled at. Willie had a kind heart, known for welcoming into his home those whom he felt needed help. He enjoyed sharing his memories of being in the U.S. Army, and telling stories of his childhood days. Willie was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, and enjoyed watching their games at the home of his nephew and niece, Pete and Julie Flores. Willie was blessed to have the unending love and support of his brothers, Rafael Villarreal and Ricardo Villarreal, whom assisted him until the Lord called him home.
Willie is preceded in death by his father, Victor Villarreal; his mother, Josefina Villarreal; his wife, Sunae; his son, Domingo Villarreal; his sisters, Teresa Villarreal Villafranca and Raquel Villarreal Quick; and, his brothers, Roberto, Victor, and Raul Villarreal.
He is survived by his son, Patricio Villarreal; his brothers, Rafael Villarreal (Grapevine, TX), Ricardo Villarreal (Ft. Worth, TX), Rogelio Villarreal, and sisters, Carmen Flores (Haltom City, TX), and, Rosa V. Sanchez (Edinburg, TX). Also surviving are grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
On June 15th @ 1:00 PM there will be a family gathering at Brown Owens & Brumley Family Funeral Home 425 S Henderson Fort Worth Texas 76104
On June 15th @ 3:15 PM the interment for Guillermo Ruiz Villarreal will receive Full Military Honors at the National Cemetery 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas Texas 75211
