James "Jim" Vondra, beloved Uncle, passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2023, in Fort Worth, TX. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to your favorite charity. Jim was born June 30, 1940, to Edward and Bernice Vondra in San Antonio.
He grew up all over the country, attending 10 different schools before college. He attended the University of Oklahoma and completed his degree at the University of North Texas. He proudly served his country in the Army and was stationed in Germany.
He began working at Swift & Co. in Fort Worth as an Industrial Engineer. After a few years, he took an opportunity to become a Computer Programmer with General Dynamics, which started a long career in Information Technology. He worked for General Dynamics, and then Computer Sciences Corporation, primarily as a Systems Programmer supporting IMS. After retirement, he did some traveling, loved telling stories and spending time with family, and enjoyed hobbies like computers and tracing his family genealogy back several centuries.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Bernice, his sister Bonnie, his brother Edward Jr. and sister-in-law Barbara, his brother Jack and sister-in-law Mary.
Survivors: Nephews Patrick Vondra and wife, Margaret, and Michael Vondra and wife, Shannon; Nieces, Josephine McNabb and husband Larry, Katherine Long and husband Mark, Mary Ann Cannon and husband Chris; with several great-nieces and great-nephews.
