Janet Faye Hathcock
December 11, 1949 - November 12, 2023
With great sorrow, the family of Janet Faye Hathcock announces that she peacefully passed away to her heavenly home on Sunday November 12, 2023, in Fort Worth, TX.
Janet was born in Fort Worth on December 11, 1949. She was raised in a military family and was stationed in El Paso, TX, Chicopee, MA, Lakenheath England, and settled in Fort Worth, Texas in 1967. She attended Brewer High School in 1968 were she met her husband Glen Hathcock, they were married for 54 years. They were blessed with two children Ronnie (1970) and Robin (1974).
Janet was a dedicated Christian woman and a member of First Baptist Church of White Settlement since 1969. She spent the last few years of her life assisting in the church nursery and loved each and every one of the children. She also loved taking part in the fall festival at church, an event in which she would always interact with the children and put a smile on everyone’s face. Janet was known for her love of all animals, over the year she brought many into her home regardless of the situation. These animals always found a forever home with her and throughout her life she cared for endless numbers of horses, dogs and cats, nurturing many back to health from dire situations. Even amongst the great number of animals she cared for they all carried a special place in her heart.
Later in life Janet found her true calling in 1995 by becoming Gran Jan! Janet was blessed with her first grandchild Haleigh (1995) followed by Caitlin (2002) and Evan (2005) she had a daily role in each of their lives to help nurture and love them. She taught them what unconditional love looked like and demonstrated this in her daily life by putting others first. She was always the grandmother to stop anything she was doing to crawl in the floor and play all afternoon. She would always lend an ear to listen, give advice and support them in all their endeavors. Janet said my favorite people call me Gran Jan this could not have been more true! Her blessings continued as she became a great grandmother to Sailor (2015) and Ella (2018) whom brought her tremendous joy in later years of her life. Her love for her animals and family defined her life; she was always true to herself and family and will be missed dearly.
She was preceded in death by her son Ronnie Hathcock and sister Joyce Bonifas.
