Obituary

Janet Joy Nichols, a lifelong resident of Fort Worth, Texas, went home to be with Jesus on March 24, 2026 at the age of 56. Born on May 21, 1969, in Fort Worth, Janet lived a life marked by faith, generosity and a deep love for her family.

Janet found great joy in winter ski trips and summer trips to Colorado. She loved hiking and bicycling with her dad. She also loved spending time with nieces and nephews for as long as she was physically able.

Janet had a passion for music and was a gifted and accomplished pianist. Janet was a health enthusiast and loved exercising and learning healthy ways to cook. She lived a life of service, giving freely of her time, talents, and resources to help those in need. Her generosity was a defining part of who she was and her joy and love for family shone through in everything she did.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Arlington, where she was recognized on the Dean’s List. Janet served for several years as an administrative assistant to the Youth Pastor at Calvary Cathedral where her father was pastor for 55 1⁄2 years.

Faith was the cornerstone of Janet’s life. She loved worship music and faithfully served the Lord. She loved studying scripture and spent time daily in prayer and reading God’s Word.

Janet was proceeded in death by her parents, Joy Nichols and Robert Nichols, (affectionately known as Pastor Bob).

She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Susan Foster and husband Phillip, her nieces and nephews, Kristen Utley and husband Jason, Robby Foster and wife Lauren, Keleigh Foster and Nick Foster. Janet also leaves behind her great-nephews, Benjamin and Jack Utley, great-nieces, Kate Utley, Abigail, Elyse, Adley and Esther Foster, Her Uncles, Rev. Dwight Thompson and wife Zonelle, and Paul Nichols along with numerous cousins and extended family members. A special acknowledgment is given to Janet’s primary caregiver, Catherine (Cathy) Ellis for her compassion and care.

Janet’s legacy of love, faith and generosity will live on in our hearts and in everyone who knew her. She is deeply missed and forever remembered.

A visitation will be held on April 2, 2026 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm at Mercy Culture Church in the Family Center, followed by the Celebration of Life service at 1 pm. Janet will be laid to rest in a private burial.
