Janice “Gigi” Hancock

Janice “Gigi” Hancock, 76, died peacefully in her sleep, Friday, December 3rd at HEB Hospital in Bedford, TX. A memorial service, with a reception following, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 8th at City Point United Methodist Church in North Richland Hills, TX. Janice was born August 18,1945 in Aberdeen, South Dakota to Delmer and Leone (Bierman) Peterson. She graduated from Miller High School in 1963 where she was a cheerleader, played basketball and was voted wrestling queen and Snow Queen. A life-long member of the United Methodist Church, Janice was active in multiple roles including serving as Director of Preschool and Children’s Services at the Acton, Texas UMC in the 1980s and most recently an active member of City Point UMC where she enjoyed being part of UMW, playing dominos, making sandwiches for the Presbyterian Night Shelter, and traveling to Espanola, NM on mission trips. She loved baking, cooking, and trying new recipes she found on Pinterest. Always active, she enjoyed yoga, water aerobics, bowling, playing cards, crochet, all crafts and scrapbooking. She turned these loves into her career as well; she made items to sell at craft fairs, worked in floral design, was the owner/manager of a restaurant, and was the long time manager of a party store. She especially enjoyed being a mother and grandmother, not only to her own children, but was like a mom to many people. Being Gigi to her grandchildren was her favorite. Grateful for having shared Gigi’s life are her children, Chantele (Laura Liles) of Richland Hills, TX; Peter (Erin) of Austin, TX; Justin of Austin, TX; and grandchildren Sylvia and Helen Perkinson and Henry Hancock. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence in 2002, her parents, and brother Delwin Peterson. Memorials: Should friends desire, memorials may be made to City Point United Methodist Church.
