Jerald W. Kunkel

FORT WORTH-Professor Jerald W. Kunkel left us on March 11, 2021 after losing his battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Judy, his son Ben, daughter Katie and her husband Jason.
He was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming in November 1946. He received his Undergraduate and Master’s Degree from University of Texas at Arlington.
He was a Licensed Structural Engineer in 37 States throughout the Country. He was a successful business owner, along with being a Professor in Practice at University of Texas at Arlington. He had a passion for teaching, be it in his office, with his clients, or in the classroom. He transferred that passion to the written word with several published books. His knowledge was so extensive that he was called upon by the legal community to testify in proceedings as to the design and build of certain structures.
Along with all of this he made time for his annual baseball games, in various cities, with his son Ben and trips with his wife, Judy, to many wonderful locations, when she could get him out of the office.
He will be missed by his family, his current and former students, employees, clients, fellow Professors and many, many friends.
A Memorial Service at UTA is pending because of COVID-19.
