Kathy Susan Walton lived a life defined by curiosity, kindness, and a deep love of words and people.
A Texas native and graduate of Arlington Heights High School (1964), she continued her education and became a lifelong Zetain Fayetteville, Arkansas before building a distinguished career as an editor that took her from Maryland’s Eastern Shore to Virginia, New York City, and Princeton.
She later returned to Fort Worth, where she taught and eventually became editor of TCU Press. Kathy believed ordinary moments were worth celebrating — a carefully wrapped gift, a house full at Christmas, a well-set table, and imaginative stories shared for hours. She welcomed everyone warmly and loved without judgment, becoming not only a cherished sister, aunt and bonus grandmother, but a guiding presence to the younger generations who adored her.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer & Robert Halpenny; four nieces and nephews, Blaine Halpenny McKee, Tim Halpenny, Lorraine Halpenny DiStefano and Jackson Halliwell; and twelve great-nieces and nephews. Her stories, laughter, and generous spirit will live on in the family she cherished.
Services will be held next Thursday, March 5th at 1pm at Arlington Heights Methodist Church. (4200 Camp Bowie Blvd. Fort Worth, TX) Visitation with the family will begin at 12pm before the 1pm service.
