Kenley “Ken” Wayne Engel

ARLINGTON-Kenley “Ken” Wayne Engel, 85, of Arlington, passed away January 29, 2021. He is survived by his five loving children and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ken was a member of the Haltom Road Baptist Church, where a private memorial service will be held on February 13, 2021. The service will be live-streamed for friends and extended family. He will be buried in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Ken was born January 26, 1936, in New Richland, Minnesota, to Ervin and Buena Engel. He served in the United States Air Force as an Airman Second Class and Crew Chief. Upon moving to Texas in 1969, he worked as a lumber yard foreman and truck driver before his retirement.
Ken loved spending time with his friends and family, especially playing games and cards. His hobbies included golf, Air Force history and air museums, craft beers and volunteering at his church.
During his years in the Air Force, he served in Japan, Greenland, Iceland, Germany, Alaska and Hawaii, and continued to love to travel throughout his life. His fondest memory as a family man was spending time at Lake Weatherford boating and skiing.
Ken was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Patricia Engel in 1993.
Survivors include: Daughter Karla Engel and spouse Fred Sowers; Son Mark Engel and spouse Joyce; Daughter, Beth Engel Payne and spouse Chris; Son John Engel and partner Stephanie Bridges; and Daughter Karen Engel Neal. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and three sisters: Kathryn Engel and husband John Rerecich; Kayla Wiebold and husband Ronald; and Jane Engel. All of his nieces and nephews as well as JoAnn Nowlin. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Beth, and most recently by his longtime companion, Wiloydean Nowlin.
