Kevin Knight Minton

Feb 24, 1959 — Oct 9, 2026

Kevin Knight Minton, 67, of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, lessons, and stories that will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him.

Born on February 24, 1959, in Midland, Texas, to Haden Knight Minton and Bonnie Joy Minton, Kevin grew up with a strong work ethic, a love for sports, and a determination that would follow him throughout his life. He graduated from Midland High School and earned an Associate of Science degree in Petroleum Technology from Midland College in 1981.Kevin spent more than three decades building a career in the oil and gas industry, a profession that suited his hardworking nature and ability to solve problems. His career took him through nearly every aspect of the industry, from production and engineering to pipeline operations, maintenance, and management. He worked for several respected companies, including Champion Technologies, Walsh and Watts, Enron Transportation, Link Energy, Plains All American Pipeline, Enterprise Products, and Statoil. He took pride in his work, the knowledge he gained, and the challenges he overcame along the way.But there was much more to Kevin than his career.

He was a natural athlete with a competitive streak that was hard to miss. Baseball and softball were lifelong passions, and he enjoyed the opportunity to compete just as much as the game itself. He also loved spending time outdoors, whether fishing, quail hunting, or hiking. Kevin was the kind of man who liked figuring things out for himself. He was hardworking, funny, determined, and sometimes stubborn, but those qualities were all part of what made him Kevin.

On July 23, 2016, Kevin married his wife, Shelly, beginning another meaningful chapter of his life. Family remained an important part of his story, and his roles as a husband, father, and grandfather were among the most significant of his life.

Kevin is survived by his loving wife, Shelly Minton of Fort Worth, Texas; his son, Kyle Minton and wife Halee of Midlothian, Texas; his stepson, Tyler Bryson of El Paso, Texas; his stepdaughter, Nicole Bryson of Wichita Falls, Texas; his three granddaughters, Piper, Olivia, and Paislee; his two grandsons, Preston and Presley; his sisters, Rita Haines and husband Bob of Quinlan, Texas; Julie Truitt and husband John of Keller, Texas; and numerous extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Haden and Bonnie Minton; his daughter, Jenifer Minton Sledge; and his stepdaughter, Ashley Ann Bryson.

Although Kevin's time here has come to an end, the impact of his life remains. He will be remembered in the stories shared, the lessons passed down, the laughter of family and friends, and the countless little things that remind those who loved him of the man he was. His life was shaped by hard work, determination, humor, and family, and those qualities will continue to live on through the people he leaves behind.
