In Loving Memory of Leon Edward Gillock
Leon Edward Gillock, 83, passed away after a long and courageous battle with numerous health challenges. In his final years, he resided at the Tuskegee Airmen State Veterans Home. Though his family mourns his loss, they find comfort in knowing he no longer suffers and is at peace.
Leon proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 27 years, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. He was a Vietnam veteran and took great pride in his military service and dedication to his country.
He shared 40 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Connie. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, friendship, and cherished memories with their treasured pets - Lady, Chico and Pookie.
Leon was a father to Steven Gillock and his wife, Ashley; Robert Gillock and his wife, Sandy; and Rebecca Potter and her husband, Matthew.
He was also a grandfather to Sean Derbyshire, Samantha Stamback, Brooke Nicole Gillock, Brooke Ashley Derbyshire, Jacob Wood, Joshua Wood, Rory Potter, and Toby Potter, and a great-grandfather to four great-grandchildren.
Leon enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping and spending time with family and friends. After retirement, he and Connie developed a love for bingo, creating lasting friendships and many happy memories at Crowley Road Bingo. He also enjoyed spending the weekend “picking” garage sales with his son Rob. As an avid classic car enthusiast he restored many classic cars and built several hot rods over the years with a special fondness for his 1939 Studebaker Commander and his 1969 AMX 390.
Leon will be remembered for his service, friendliness and charm by his family and the many lifelong friends he made throughout his life. His legacy lives on through his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Rest peacefully, Leon. Your service is complete, your battle is over and you are finally free. You will be loved, missed, and remembered always.
