Marcus Vernon Ray Jr.

Marcus Vernon Ray, Jr, 45 passed away unexpectedly October 15, 2025 in Crowley, Texas. A celebration of life service will be held Monday October 27, 2025 at 1 pm at Trinity Grace Church, 1200 Clover Hill Road, Mansfield, Texas 76063. Marcus was born on May 2, 1980 to Judy Childers Ray and Marcus Vernon Ray, Sr. He was a varsity football player and a 1998 graduate of W.E. Boswell High School in Fort Worth, Texas. After graduation, Marcus enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served in the 101st Airborne Division Screaming Eagles, passing his Air Assault tests on the first try which was a record for his platoon. He proudly served in Korea, with a Combat Tour in Afghanistan after 9/11. Marcus graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington and was employed for most of his career at GM Financial in Arlington, Texas.

In 2007, Marcus welcomed his son Cayden Marcus Ray, to whom he was a proud and loving father. Marcus took great joy in spending time with his son whether it be fishing, laughing at inappropriate things, or using his Traeger grill.

Marcus married the love of his life, Lindsay, in 2016 and often reported that he had never been happier. They loved nothing more than just spending time with each other and each considered the other their best friend. Together they created a noisy family of 5 chihuahuas and he was the most amazing girl dog dad.

Marcus was an unforgettable friend to many and never met a stranger. He prided himself on his "Dudeism" ethos that helped him to live life to the fullest and welcomed those close to him into his heart and his home.

Marcus enjoyed practicing Brazilian Ju Jitsu at Genesis Jiu Jitsu in Burleson, Tx, spending time in a hammock, doing yard work, and feeding those he loved his delicious barbecue. He was a connoisseur of music and jokingly considered himself the "songbird of his generation."

Marcus was preceded in death by both of his parents and is survived by his wife, Lindsay; his son, Cayden; his chihuahuas Leia, Roxy, Biscuit, Minnie Pearl, and Scrappy; his uncle Doug Ray and spouse Susan; aunt Patricia Sennet; aunt Martha O'Grady and spouse Don; aunt Martha Nevers; aunt Susie Wolf and spouse Jerry; his father and mother in law Dan and Vicki Clark; his brother in law Nathan Clark; as well as multiple cousins and friends. He is also survived by his best friends that he considered family; Jeremy Lunsford, James Fox, and Sheena Howard-Crossley.
