Melissa Kay Mclearen

January 20, 1976 — February 13, 2024

Our Angel, Melissa Kay Mclearen, unexpectedly passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at the age of 48.  Melissa's positivity impacted and touched the lives of everyone who met her, both briefly, and long term.  Her warmth, kindness and generosity of her spirit brought comfort, love and hope daily to family, friends and all who came in contact with her.  Her enormous heart was a gift to us all and will not be easily forgotten as her heartfelt connections were infectious daily along with her passion for nursing.

Celebration of life:  1 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2024 at Brown Owens & Brumley's Joe B. Brown Memorial Chapel.

Melissa was born January 20, 1976 in Buffalo, Minnesota to Kevin Mclearan and Linda Cosgrove.  She attended Metro care Medical Services and Tarrant County College; had her EMT Paramedic license, and was a Registered Nurse.  She worked for HEB Hospital of Bedford as a paramedic, City of Watauga EMS as a Paramedic and as an RN at North Richland Hills Hospital; at Medical Center of Arlington as an RN; UHS Hickory Trails Behavioral Hospital as an RN; and at UHS/Millwood Hospital as an RN.

Melissa loved wearing pink - to say it was her favorite color is an understatement. We would like for everyone who attends her service to please wear pink in honor of her.  She went back to college in 2022 and performed in theater and musical arts degree program and was in a Shakespeare play after her un-anticipated early retirement from nursing.  Always the kindest, most bright spirited person, she always loved taking care of animals, she loved being a Momma to her son, Caleb Jay Freeman.  She always treated everyone like she had known you for a long time.  She was never a stranger to those who crossed her path in life.  She was loving, caring, and always shared her gift of singing to her loved ones.

Melissa enjoyed singing karaoke, doing her makeup, animals, dancing, playing the keyboard piano, going for walks, camping, being outdoors, theatre, riding horses, going to the beach, doing her hair, watching movies and television.  Her passion for life will be deeply missed by all of us with the legend of love she left in all of our hearts.

Melissa is preceded in death by her father, Kevin Mclearen.

Survivors: Her son, Caleb Jay Freeman,  Her beloved life partner, David Ruisi,  Mother, Linda Cosgrove, brother, Todd Mclearen (Kia) & Lee Mclearan (Tracy); stepchildren, Amanda Dingeldey (Michael), Joshua Ruisi, Cody Freeman (Valerie), Cayden Freeman, Destiny Freeman, daughter-in-law of Mark & Linda Leiter, Joseph Ruisi & Judy Morella, sister-in-law of Tricia Swartout, Jenny Ruisi and Andrew Ruisi (Eliesha), Aunt to Carmine, Louis, Adam, and stepchildren Lawrence & Mindy Jernigan, along with numerous nephews and nieces who loved her and many friends who became family!
