ARLINGTON-Michael Barry Weaver passed away Friday, June 17, 2022 at the age of 73.
GRAVESIDE SERVICE: There will be an informal graveside gathering to say farewell at 11 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2022 at Prairie Springs Cemetery, Ben Wheeler, Texas. Michael will be laid to rest in a casket that was lovingly built by his great-nephew, Billy, and his great-nieces, Sandra and Devyn.
Michael was born May 15, 1949 in Tyler, Texas to the late Robert Luther “Luke” Weaver and Willie Mae Edgar Weaver. He attended Margaret B. Henderson Elementary School, W.E. Greiner Jr. High School and then graduated from South Oak Cliff High School, Class of 1967. Michael was baptized as a very young boy at Grace Temple Baptist Church located on the corner of 10th Street and Tyler in Oak Cliff. He learned the trade of machinist while working at his father’s machine shop in Dallas which did contract work for LTV Aerospace & Defense. From 1970 – 1972, Mike and his brother, Ronnie, took a break from being machinist to partner in the ownership of a Phillips 66 full service station in Grand Prairie. They both returned to being machinist, mainly in the aerospace industry, working for Glover-Hunt, Triangle Machine & Manufacturing, LTV Vought Aircraft, Universal Products, and Progressive Inc.
Michael loved everything to do with cars and drag racing and was a member of the National Hot Rod Association.
His favorite muscle car was the Chevy II Nova. He built and raced many of them at Kennedale’s Texas Raceway. Michael enjoyed spending time with family and friends and especially his brother and nieces. They spent much time together growing up. His nieces’ favorite memories are of Michael and their Dad teaching them to drive the dune buggy, mini-bikes and dirt bikes. Their favorite past time was going four wheeling. Michael’s nieces and nephews thought the world of Michael and will miss him terribly.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Ronald ”Ronnie” Luther Weaver.
SURVIVORS: Niece, Rhonda Weaver-Carter and husband, Ronnie; great nephew, Cory Ladd and wife, Emma; niece, Debbie Maris-Estes and husband, Danny; great niece, Devyn Gengo and husband, Kristopher; great-great nieces, Jordyn, Camryn & Shannyn Gengo; great niece, Dalyn Blotz; great-great nephew, Gavin Davis; great nephew, Billy Moore Jr. and wife, Sandra; and numerous cousins and friends.
