FORT WORTH-Michael (Mike) Mayfield passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022 at the age of 71.

Michael was born Sunday, September 24, 1950 in Atlanta, Georgia to Woodrow and Joan Mayfield. He attended and graduated from F.T. Wills High School, Class of 1968 in Smyrna, Georgia. He proudly served his country by enlisting in the US Air Force. He was a Tech Sargent in the Air Force for “7 years, 1 month and 20 days”. He worked at Lockheed Martin, Aircraft Mechanic; Aviation Institute of Maintenance as an instructor; and NAPA Genuine Auto Parts as a driver. He was a member of Lockheed Union Shop Steward and Safety Committee. Mike loved photography, air planes, computers and spending time with Turbo. He enjoyed going to the lake with his family growing up and eating watermelon. He loved air shows and watching Jeremiah play T-ball. He enjoyed telling stories of his life, especially about his travels during the Air Force and his time doing security at Fernbank Museum in Atlanta during their dinosaur exhibit. He was happiest being surrounded by family and loved ones. These are just some of his favorite things to do. He was a loving husband, father, granddaddy, brother, uncle, cousin and friend and will be missed.
Mike is preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Mayfield; nephew, Mark Robert Mayfield; aunt, Diana Capps Adam; uncle, Joel “Mack” Adams; cousin, Chris Adams; and his beloved boxer, Turbo.
SURVIVORS: Wife of 38 years, Patti Mayfield; mother, Joan Mayfield; son, Zach Mayfield and wife, Sarah; grandson, Jeremiah Mayfield; brother, Bill Mayfield and wife, Bonnie; brother, Dan Mayfield and wife, Laurie; cousin, Todd Adams and wife, Burnell; niece, Laura Mayfield; nephew, Mark Russell Mayfield and wife, Katie; nephew, Brett Mayfield and wife, Jaclyn; nephew, Stephen Mayfield; and daughter, Christine Farley; and numerous other family and friends.
