Michael "Mike" D. Van Slyke

Michael “Mike” D. Van Slyke, cherished husband, father, son, brother, and loyal friend to many, passed away on April 12, 2024, with his devoted and loving wife, Debi, at his side. He was 69 years old.

Born in Nampa, Idaho to Donald and Patricia Van Slyke. Michael's life was one of strength, passion, and unwavering dedication. He leaves behind a legacy of love and memories that will forever be treasured by those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Michael was a man of many facets, each shining brightly in the tapestry of his life. A retired construction superintendent, he approached his work with diligence and determination, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and peers alike. His innovative mind and wide range of exceptional skills set him apart, making him a true leader in his field.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Michael's true passion lay in the great outdoors. He loved the mountains and found solace reveling in the beauty of nature. His love for wild game hunting and spending time at his deer lease with family and friends brought him immense happiness and fulfillment.

Michael was a man of integrity, whose strength and character were apparent to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He faced life's challenges with courage and resilience, leaving an indelible mark on those around him. His presence was a beacon of light, and his absence will be keenly felt by all who loved him.

In addition to his professional achievements and love for the outdoors, Michael was a devoted family man. His role as a husband, father, and grandfather brought him boundless joy, and he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. His legacy of love, kindness, and strength will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, serving as a guiding light in their lives.

Michael Van Slyke was a true man among men, whose impact will be felt for generations to come. Though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift all who were touched by his presence.

Michael is preceded in death by his father, Donald A. Van Slyke and brother, Scott A. Van Slyke. He is survived by his wife, Debi Van Slyke, and his children, Tony Van Slyke; Patrick Miller and his wife Elizabeth; Jeremy Miller and his wife Kristen; Jessica Mallett and her husband Jason. He is also survived by his mother Patricia and her husband David Peach; his sister Pamela and her husband Jim Turner; his sister Lisa Speir; his sister Lori and her husband Mike Arnold; and his sister Vicki and her husband Steve Melton. Michael had 9 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.  

Michael will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing that his legacy of love and strength will endure forevermore.

A celebration of Michael's life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2024 at Fellowship of the Parks, Bedford Campus, 2045 Bedford Road, Bedford, Texas  76021, where family and friends will come together to honor his memory and share stories of his remarkable life.
