Ralph A. Whitaker

Ralph A. Whitaker, 65, passed away Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003.

Memorial service: 2 p.m. Friday in Brown, Owens & Brumley’s Joe B. Brown Memorial Chapel.

Ralph Whitaker was born Nov. 11, 1937, in Decatur, Ala. Ralph was a graduate of Mississippi State University with honors and co-founder of Derby Day for Sigma chi Fraternity. He was a avid golfer, sports enthusiast and voracious reader. He loved and was proudest of his family.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to his best friend, Elliot Prater, and his family.

Survivors: Mother, Mary Bert Whitaker of Tupelo, Miss.; sons and daughters-in-law, John R. and Karen Whitaker and grandson, Jack of Southlake and Christopher B. and Cara Whitaker of Austin; daughters, Michelle and Susan Whitaker Michigan; former wife, Kathryn Jones Whitaker of Fort Worth; sister, Marilyn Johns of Florida.; and many Jones family members, Patty and David Armstrong of Fort Worth, Daniel H. Jones and family of San Antonio, Mary Frances and Joe Pinion of Nashville, Tenn., and Charles F. Jones and family of Charleston, S.C., the family’s favorite vacation place.
