Ray was born Tuesday, January 25, 1949 to the late Harry and Shirley Burns in Ottumwa, Iowa. He proudly served his country by enlisting in the US Navy. He served 9 years active duty and was stationed in California and Japan. He enjoyed his adventures while stationed in Japan, playing tourist. Ray graduated at South West Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. He pastored at Faith Fellowship Baptist Church in Fort Worth and also taught classes in Sunday School. He led the young marrieds group at South Cliff Baptist Church. He loved fellowshipping with those young seminary students in our home. Ray loved fishing, crafts and spending time with family and friends. One of the most memorable times was when he surprised me with the announcement that he had earned an all expense paid trip for the two of us to go on a cruise to Alaska. Ray was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be deeply missed.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lora Dewald; and brother, Richard Burns.
