Rickey “Rick” Alan Willson

Corinth, TX

Rickey "Rick" Alan  Willson, was born on October 30, 1951 in Lubbock, TX and went in to the arms of Jesus on January 27, 2024, at the age of 72. He was resting at his home in Corinth, TX, when he passed away peacefully.

Rick is survived by his wife, Jan of Corinth, TX; his children, Brent Willson of Florida, and Ashley Kogler and husband Jason Kogler and their kids Luke, Tinleigh, and Graham of Lewisville;  1 brother, Randy Willson, sister-in-law Sharon Darnell and husband Lonnie Darnell of Austin; and 3 neices.  He is preceeded in death by his mother, Bonnie Willson, and father, Kenneth Willson. 

Rick graduated from Idalou High School in 1969 where he played baseball, basketball. and the trumpet, earning many awards and recognitions. Rick was set up on a blind date with Jan and began dating in 1970, marrying April 7th, 1973. Rick and family lived in Lubbock Texas all of their lives until moving to Arlington, Tx in 2004, and then to Corinth, TX in 2018.  Rick was a well known salesman, most recently working for Michals Imports over the last 15 years. He called on numerous women's boutique stores, selling jewelry. He formed many great friendships with his countless customers. He traveled on the road for the last 40 plus years, representing companies including Frito-Lay, Sylvania Light Bulbs, Hanes Hosery, Brighton Creative Leather, Emily Ray Jewlery, Scooples, and Michals Imports.

Rick was a loving father, and grandfather. His grandkids called him Pop and he spent many hours at baseball fields, basketball courts, and dance recitals watching his grandkids and being their biggest cheerleader. Rick and Jan found a love for traveling in their camper after Jan retired. They would visit Colorado annually and other Texas State Parks, always planning their next getaway. They were also fortunate to travel the world over the years, visiting Hawaii numerous times, The French Riveria, Greece, Turkey, China, Los Angeles, New York, Florida and other stateside locations. He also loved to BBQ and would cook for his family almost weekly. They also spent many years at Possum Kingdom Lake where they made countless memories with family and friends. Rick also loved watching Texas Tech athletics, Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks and The Kansas City Chiefs. Other interests include World War Two history, movies and music.

Rick was loved by many, and he will always be remembered for his “big man” physique while being a sweet gentle giant. 

Memorial Services for Rick is scheduled for Friday, February 2, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at The Well Community Church in Argyle, Texas. Flowers and other condolences can be sent to 1631 Redwood Drive, Corinth, Texas 76210. Dr. Chuck Lowman will officiate the memorial service.
