Fort Worth, Texas- Robert Brumley Martin, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, passed away surrounded by his family on May 3, 2025 after a brief illness. Bob was born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 23, 1942 to Pendleton and Margaret Martin, and was an older brother to Daniel and Thomas.
Bob was a gifted athlete and coach, instilling in his daughters a love of sports and a strong competitive nature. Their memories are filled with early morning workouts on the track or in the pool, and long drives to cross country meets and soccer tournaments across the country. He was a natural storyteller and voracious reader, always ready to share Jeopardy-worthy trivia facts, a funny pun, or a few choice words in a foreign language no one knew he had learned. Bob loved Monty Python and English Premier league soccer long before it was cool, and often sported his Liverpool FC gear. In his later years he reignited his love of motorcycles and decided at the age of 80 to attend the Harley Davidson Riding Academy so he could return to a hobby he had given up in the '70s.
Bob is survived by his partner, Vicki Mayer; his daughters, Erin Stone, Meg O'Grady, Molly Miller (Chris), Moira Martin, and Rory Martin; his grandchildren, Jasmine Rhineberger, Sydney Stone, Neylon O'Grady, and Noah Sambrosky; great-grandchildren, Mateo, Koen, McKenna, Josephine, Emerson, and Braelyn Garcia, Dalisay, Forest, and Artemi Pullara-Stone, Tru and Trae Round, and Rainer Scholten. Bob also found great humor and joy in his cats Whitney and Aretha.
He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Joann, daughter Morgan, and grandsons Chandler Rhineberger and Braydon Stone.
Inurnment will be at a later date at Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville Illinois. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Los Angeles County Animal Care Foundation.
