Rosemary Uhl

May 17, 1937 — November 9, 2023

Rosemary Uhl, 86, of Dallas, Texas, passed from this earthly life on Thursday, November 9, 2023. Born in 1937, in Toledo, Ohio, to Tony and Clara Hetman, Rosemary grew up in Sylvania, Ohio, graduating from Burnham High School in 1954. Rosemary attended business school where she received an Administrative Assistant certificate and then started her career as a secretary where she met her husband, Thomas Uhl. Rosemary and Tom were married on September 8, 1962, and in 1966 they relocated to Memphis, TN, where they raised their family. Rosemary made her last move to Dallas, TX, in 1990.

Baptized in the Catholic church, Rosemary was a longstanding member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Bartlett, TN, where her children also attended school. As St. Ann grew larger, she and her husband where heavily involved in the start-up, and became members, of a branch of the church closer to their home called Ascension Catholic Church. And then in Dallas, Rosemary was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Duncanville, TX, for the last 30 years. Rosemary was an involved parishioner, always cooking for the spaghetti dinners and potlucks, as well as donating to and attending the flea markets and women's gatherings.

Rosemary was a dedicated wife to her husband; Tom and Rosemary were happily married for 57 years. She worked at the IRS in Memphis and as a law librarian in several of the top law and accounting firms in downtown Dallas. However, she primarily was a wife, a mother, and homemaker, focused on taking care of her family. Rosemary enjoyed hobbies such as ceramics, knitting, and sewing clothes and costumes for her children when they were young. She got them involved in extra curricular activities and always attended all her children's school and sporting events over the years. Rosemary also enjoyed spending time with her women friends, most especially their trips to Florida. She was a wonderful cook who liked feeding her friends and family, and she was a second mother to many of her children's friends, always welcoming them in her home.

Rosemary very much enjoyed traveling and RV'ing with her husband after he retired in 2006. Visiting her friends and family in Ohio was her favorite. Rosemary loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed going out to eat, grabbing coffee with her daughter, participating in activities with her friends at her apartment, and watching old westerns, gameshows, and QVC on television. She loved animals, especially her cat Sophie. The last several years Rosemary enjoyed and appreciated talking on the phone with her local girlfriends, her lifetime friends from Memphis and Ohio, her cousin Caroline, and her family and nieces from Ohio.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband Tom, her father & mother, her sister Bernice, and her brother Richard. Rosemary is survived by a son, Tom and wife Cathy of Frisco, TX; a daughter, Dianne and her two grandchildren Jacob and Beck of Ft. Worth, TX; a son Joseph and his wife Christina of Justin, TX; and her nieces Donna, Rose Ann, Chris and nephew Mike.

In lieu of flowers, and in remembrance of Rosemary and her love of animals, contributions to the Humane Society of North Texas or an animal rescue/charity of your choice would be appreciated.
