GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at 2:15pm at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, Lane 2.
Sammy was born to the late Joseph Marion Littlejohn and Janie Lorene Bullock on Thursday, May 10, 1945, in Fort Worth. He was a 1963 graduate of Lake Worth High School.
A decorated Vietnam Veteran with the United States Army, Sammy proudly served with his unit, the 25th Infantry Division. He received numerous badges, ribbons and medals and received the Army Commendation Medal as rank Specialist Four E-4 for his exceptionally meritorious service in support in the counterinsurgency effort in the Republic of Vietnam. After his tour in Vietnam in 1967, Sammy was stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, where he was a Military Police Corporal. In 1971, Sammy received his Honorable Discharge from the Army.
Sammy was a produce manager for many years, beginning with the Levels Food Store chains, where he eventually assisted the Level family by opening new stores across the DFW area. He continued managing supermarket chains for Affiliated Foods throughout the north Fort Worth area before settling down and retiring from Food City, north side, Fort Worth.
The stories Sammy would tell would leave listening ears spell-bound. He is most known for his fascinating stories about Vietnam or grocery store mishaps. We will miss his beautiful smile, loving nature, adventurous stories, and his joy for country dancing and singing ol’ Hank songs on Karaoke night.
