Sheila Marie Thurman

FORT WORTH-Sheila Marie Thurman, a wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother passed away after a courageous battle with lung cancer on Thursday, January 28th, 2021 at the age of 65 while in her home surrounded by family.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE: 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Brown Owens & Brumley’s Joe B. Brown Memorial Chapel.
VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2021 at the funeral home.
Sheila was born in San Pablo, California on January 28th, 1956 to Rose M. Bagwell and Herbert A. (Nick) Wells. She graduated from Keller High School in 1973. She met her soon to be husband in 1972 at Omar’s in Fort Worth, where she loved to dance to the oldies. They were married on March 9th, 1973, and went on to have two daughters Lisa and Teresa. Sheila enjoyed spending time with her family. Her biggest joy in life was when she became a grandmother. She was then able to pass down her favorite hobbies to her grandchildren. Her love of camping and being outdoors meant that she was able to spend more time with her family who always came first. Even in the last days of her life she still was holding on to see her grandchildren. Her other love was sewing and quilting. Upon arriving in New York she joined a quilting guild called “Loving hands for all seasons” where she made beautiful quilts that she gifted to her family and friends. With this guild she was given the opportunity to meet some of her best friends.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Sheila’s special friend Tammy for all her love, compassion and her dinners. The family would like to thank Vitas Hospice Care for all their help and support through this difficult time.
She is preceded in death by her fathers, Nick Wells and Bobby F. Bagwell Sr; and sister, Suzanne Geldmeier.
SURVIVORS: She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Keith D. Thurman of Richland Hills; her daughters Lisa (Daniel) Boehme of Owego, New York, and Teresa Thurman and significant other of Richland Hills; grandchildren, Makenna, Carter, and Gabriella Boehme; mother, Rose Marie Bagwell; brothers, Nick (Denise) Wells, Rick (Sherry) Wells, Bobby (Kathy)Bagwell, and Randy (Mary)Bagwell; sisters, Sherry Kelly, Cindy Hines and Sharla (Joe) Vaughn; numerous nieces nephews and friends.
