Thomas Dudley Mackey, III

Thomas Dudley Mackey, III beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026 at the age of 86. He was born on October 7, 1939 and was raised in Scarsdale, New York.

Tom attended Immaculate Heart of Mary and Archbishop Stepinac High School before earning his Bachelor of Arts degree from East Carolina University. He proudly served his country as a combat medic at Walter Reed during the Vietnam War.

Tom spent much of his professional career in the printing industry including many years with the 3M Company. In 1969 he took the entrepreneurial leap and founded his own printing company. His curiosity and business spirit later led him to found Tradewinds Consulting with a dear friend through which he explored investment opportunities in China.

Beyond his career and accomplishments, Tom will be remembered for the life he built and the people he loved. He was a member of Congressional Country Club, his beloved home away from home. There, he enjoyed countless rounds of golf, good conversation, and some of his favorite meals—especially crab cakes and corned beef hash. These simple pleasures, shared with friends and family, were among the things that made life special to him.

Above all, Tom was devoted to his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Carroll, his son, Tom, and daughter-in-law, Lindsey, his daughter, Elizabeth, and son-in-law, Nick Johnson, his four beautiful granddaughters, Caroline, Kathleen, Bethany, and Summer and beloved brother, Roger S. Mackey and wife, Jeanne.

Tom leaves behind a lifetime of memories, friendships, singing, laughter and love. Always the life of the party, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Mercy in Potomac, Maryland at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 18th followed by a private internment at St. Gabriel’s. A reception will follow at Congressional Country Club.
