FORT WORTH-Virginia June Dowis, known as “Ginny” by her loved ones, was born February 6, 1957 and passed away peacefully March 27th, 2021. She was preceded in death by her mother Margaret Dowis, Father Chloe Dowis , Sister, Nona Dowis and Brother, Jackie Dowis. She is survived by her four daughters- Lanie Bitar, Mechelle Wagner, Sarah Cooper, and Ashley Hazlewood – her Sister, Judy Reno. Ginny leaves behind seven grandchildren- Haevyn Mitchell, Kareem Bitar, Caleb Hazlewood, Judah McWherter, Iris McWherter, Eadyn Lawrence and Eli Lawrence. Her Grandbabies were precious to her. She treasured every moment she was able to share with them.
Our family takes great comfort in the memories Ginny leaves behind. She held our hands through many hours of childbirth, spent countless days playing on the beach in the sand building castles, she let us stay up late to watch Disney movies, and hosted EPIC craft sessions that sometimes ended in flames or near disaster. One of our favorite running jokes is about the time she accidentally blew up the microwave making candles. It was all about the memories for Mom, her camera always poised in hand. We know that her irreplaceable Spirit lives on in every melodic song, every beautiful walk amongst the sunshine and trees, every butterfly that flies by, every flower we stop to smell. We know that if there is a memory being made, she will be there with us.
Mom always encouraged our individuality and self-expression even when it made her cringe. She fully supported our first tattoos, despite her not being fond of needles. She was silly and weird but she owned it. She taught us to Reach for the Stars, even when it was difficult to do so. She coaxed us to be our true authentic selves. We always knew that above all else, she loved us beyond words. Her warmth and support will live on in our hearts and minds forever. She was a survivor, rooted strongly by her deep faith in God. She was a kind hearted woman, a true Christian. She will be missed greatly.
Rest in Peace, Mom.
You will never be forgotten by us.
We will forever keep your memories close to our hearts.
We will always love you, to the Moon and back.
At her request, our Mom’s remains will be cremated then released into the ocean by her closest family members. There will be a Celebration of Life at the below listed time and address.
This will be a come and go event with Mexican food provided for visitors.
Be sure to wear her favorite color, purple, and help us honor one of her last wishes- she wanted a party as beautiful, fun, unique, rich, and vibrant as the life she led. She doesn’t want us to be sad.
